Stonefish (Synanceia)

These incredibly well-camouflaged fish have powerful spines containing some of the most toxic venom in the world. If not fatal, a puncture will bring on intense pain and swelling, along with a grey or blue discoloration around the wound. The victim may become frantic or delirious and have trouble breathing. If you can help it, avoid the back, pectoral, and pelvic fins… or maybe just the whole fish!
